Franjevački samostan Kraljeva Sutjeska

Prvobitni samostan je podignut najvjerovatnije u prvoj polovini 14. vijeka. Prvi spomen o njemu nalazimo u popisu franjevačkog pisca Bartola Pisanskog iz 1385. godine. Nakon osmanlijskog osvajanja Bosne, samostan se spominje u jednom osmanlijskom popisu 1469. godine. U vrijeme progona 1524. god. samostan je nasilno porušen. Godine 1658. izgorio je samostan sa svim dragocijenostima (arhiva, biblioteka). Novi je podignut 1664. godine. U vrijeme bečkog rata, krajem 17. vijeka, franjevci su ga morali, zbog velikih nameta, napustiti i živjeti po seoskim kolibama. Kada su se političke prilike smirile, ponovno su se vratili 1704. godine. Tokom 19. vijeka samostan je dvaput građen, posljednji put 1888-90. kada je sagrađen današnji samostan.

Kraljeva Sutjeska is a Bosnian Franciscan monastery in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located near Kakanj, in the village of Kraljevska Sutjeska.
It includes a museum in which it houses historical treasures, a library which keeps rare and valuable historical records. There are around 11,000 works in the library, including 31 incunabula and works in Bosnian Cyrillic. The earliest parish register is preserved since 1641. There are also a number of Ottoman Turkish documents.
It also includes Grgurevo, a site where the kings' castle from 1330 along with his remains are located.
The historically important dwelling of Bosnian kings, Bobovac, is also a short distance from the castle remains and the monastery, as well as other sights of Kraljevska Sutjeska.
